About

A young woman wearing a gray knit beanie and a sweater, sitting pensively with her hand to her face, looking down in thoughtIn the beginning…

Walking into my office, the first thing you’ll see is a wall of books. Some folks ask me if I’ve read all of them; my answer is mostly.

You’ll sit in a comfortable chair and be followed into the office by my therapy dog, Shylo, a golden retriever. He’ll sit near your feet.

We start wherever you are right now.

Maybe you feel anxious, confused, depressed, or all three. Perhaps there is no word for how you are feeling. You’re lost and don’t know what else to do.

You’ve tried everything and maybe worked with a different therapist… or two. But nothing ever changed. So, you slogged through your days, being silently overwhelmed and unhappy.

Wherever you are is the perfect place for you and me to begin.

What you’ll get…

You and I will start together, always beginning at wherever you are. Whatever is on your mind is where we start.

You will come out on the other side of therapy and learn to identify what has held you back from the life that you want. But that’s not enough. Wherever you are stuck, you’ll learn how to move through the stumbling block.

You’ll get to be the person you’ve always wanted to be but didn’t know how to get there. As a result, you will gain clarity, peace, and confidence – and be free from that inner critic who constantly nags you. Finally, you will have freedom from the past.

More importantly, you’ll get a therapist who wants to listen and understand, can walk in your shoes, and knows how to move you forward.

About Me

Dr. Susan L. Hollander wearing a white blouse and a colorful beaded necklaceI’ve always been the person trying to figure out what makes people tick and wanting to help.

Asking questions got me the label of “little professor” in my family. Doing therapy was the perfect match as a profession.

I received a Master’s in Social Work from Barry University and completed two years of internships at local mental health centers. Completing a Ph.D. in Social Work inspired me partially because I’m a “reach for the highest qualifications” person.

I believe that people can change. I think everyone can change, no matter how old you are or your stage in life.

As a single mom with an amazing son, my passion is living life to the fullest. I love the beautiful outdoor life in Colorado and am inspired by just looking at the mountains.

When I’m not working, you can find me cooking complicated recipes for friends, walking my pup Shylo, and traveling to exotic places.

My mission in life is to help as many people as possible for as long as I can be helpful.

“You never change your life until you step out of your comfort zone;
change begins at the end of your comfort zone.”
