Parenting is both a blessing and a challenge.
Parenting presses on our deepest instincts, values, and vulnerabilities. Without meaning to, even devoted parents can find themselves reacting in ways that don’t match their intentions. Stress builds, patterns repeat, and moments of disconnection grow more frequent or more painful.
In therapy, I work with parents to slow that process down — to notice what’s driving it and to understand how it affects both their inner world and their child’s. Therapy doesn’t hand out parenting techniques; it opens space to think, feel, and respond with greater clarity. As parents begin to understand their own emotional responses, they often find themselves better able to understand their children’s, too.
The outcome of this work is not perfection — it’s a better relationship. Children sense when a parent is emotionally available and attuned. They benefit not only from firmer boundaries or fewer outbursts, but from the deeper sense of security that grows when a parent is present, reflective, and calm. That kind of parenting isn’t effortless, but it becomes more possible when parents feel supported, seen, and less alone with the weight of it all.
Parenting Therapy That Understands Life in Englewood, CO
As a licensed psychotherapist serving Englewood, I’ve seen firsthand how the unique rhythms of our community shape family life. From high-performing schools to career-driven households, it’s easy to feel pressure to be the “perfect parent”, but true happiness in parenting doesn’t come from perfection. It comes from presence, insight, and connection.
My practice provides parenting therapy in Englewood, CO, that’s designed to help you manage the real, messy, beautiful parts of family life. We’ll explore your parenting style, uncover patterns shaped by your own upbringing, and build a treatment plan tailored to your family’s needs, whether you’re facing behavioral problems, anxious childhood emotions, or just the day-to-day wear of trying to master life with little ones.
Helping Families Grow Together
Through family therapy, individual therapy, and parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT), I help parents strengthen relationships, improve communication, and create a more stable home environment. Therapy isn’t just for crises. It’s a supportive environment where you and your child will share emotions, learn coping skills, and find new ways to thrive together.
You might be:
- Struggling with discipline strategies that don’t align with your co-parents.
- Experiencing conflict with a teen who shuts you out.
- Handling big emotions in a small child who doesn’t yet have the words.
- Dealing with the added strain of substance use or trauma in your family system.
Wherever you are, family therapy provides space to feel heard, be understood, and begin healing together.
I can help you with parenting concerns.
My role is to help people with kids of all ages become happier, more satisfied, and confident parents.
You know your kids better than anyone else. But sometimes, when we are in the middle of a challenge, we can’t see the answers.
You and I will figure out your parenting style and if that style is best suited for the outcome you want for your children. Often, the parenting you experienced growing up has a profound effect on your parenting style.
My expertise is in knowing the different phases that kids must go through to become healthy, confident, productive, and independent adults. There are various techniques for different ages and types of kids.
As you grow as a parent, your children will grow, too. Everybody wins.
Meet Larry*, one of my clients.
Larry and his wife Barbara* came to parenting therapy because they quarreled a lot about managing their two young daughters.
There were no rules in Barbara’s family, whereas Larry’s parents spanked and sometimes beat him. Larry was a model child – he always did what his parents said.
When I worked with Larry and Barbara, it became clear why they struggled with parenting. Working with them provided insight into their background and differences in their parenting philosophy.
Larry realized he wasn’t failing when his girls didn’t quickly listen, and Barbara learned to set reasonable rules for the girls to follow. The couple left therapy with a better understanding of each other and parenting techniques to help them raise these two young girls.
Unfortunately, five years later, Barbara died unexpectedly, leaving Larry to parent two teenage girls alone. He returned to therapy because he wanted to be the best dad he could be. He calls the sessions his Rosetta Stone time – as we decode what his teenage girls are communicating to him.
Larry is a loving, highly motivated dad – his girls have grown in their understanding of him.

Frequently Asked Questions about Parenting Therapy in Englewood, CO
What is parenting therapy, and how will it help my family?
Parenting therapy is a type of counseling that supports parents in building stronger, healthier relationships with their children. It helps guide parents through real-life difficulties, from tantrums to teen silence, and gives tools to manage emotions, discipline, and communication.
In therapy, you’ll gain insights into your parenting style, understand your child’s behavior, and learn how to create a more peaceful home. It’s about helping both you and your child navigate life’s challenges with confidence and compassion.
Who needs parenting therapy?
Parenting therapy is for any parent who feels overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of what to do next. Whether you’re facing behavioral issues, school stress, mental health struggles, or changes like divorce or loss, therapy provides a safe environment to talk, reflect, and grow.
It’s also helpful if you want to improve the parent-child relationship, set clearer boundaries, or simply be the best parent you can be.
Do you offer therapy for couples or families?
Yes. I offer couples therapy and family therapy. These options are helpful when other family members are involved in parenting decisions or when you want to improve overall family communication and connection.
Therapy can take many forms, and we’ll find what works best for your family’s needs, whether in person or online.
Is this therapy personalized for my situation?
Absolutely. I offer tailored support for each parent, child, or family. No two families are the same. Together, we’ll create a custom treatment plan based on your values, goals, and daily challenges.
This includes exploring how your upbringing, personality, and life stressors affect your parenting style. Therapy also incorporates biological and emotional factors to support whole-family healing.
How does parenting therapy support personal growth?
Parenting therapy doesn’t just support your child; it also supports your personal growth. You’ll learn new ways to manage stress, understand emotions, and connect more deeply with your child and significant relationships.
Many clients leave therapy feeling more confident, less reactive, and better able to provide compassionate care for themselves and their loved ones.
Do you offer help for working parents or career stress?
Yes. I work with parents who are also facing career pressure, burnout, or major life changes. I also provide career assessments for individuals or families going through transitions, helping you make choices that support both family life and professional fulfillment.
What happens during the first therapy session?
In our first session, we’ll talk about your goals, concerns, and hopes for therapy. You’ll be met with warmth and care in a safe environment, no judgment, just support.
I’ll ask questions to help understand your family dynamic and needs. Then we’ll begin crafting a treatment plan that supports your parenting journey, emotional wellness, and meaningful change.
Do you accept new clients?
Yes, I welcome new clients. Whether this is your first time seeking therapy or you’re returning to deepen your growth, I’d be honored to work with you and your family.

Like Larry and Barbara, you can learn a parenting style that will help you through each stage of the process.
